“Nighttripping All Night Long” contains everything that distinguishes the The Menheads Sound. Electronic eclecticism, hypnotic grooves, stylistical diversification, killer arrangements, funky hornlines, rocking beats, etc.
The album combines two of the The Menheads previous 12" Maxi Single outings: “Nightripping” (No.2 DCC) and “All Night Long”. Both were released on vinyl and are now avaliable on CD for the first time.
01 The Menheads — All Night Long (Club Version) [3:29]
“All night long” tells the story of a frantic night out – situated against a sparse, funky backdrop singer and actress Kudra Owens takes us on a “funky” ride through tempting “night long” affairs. (Radio Edit exclusive on CD only!)
02 The Menheads — Kon-Tiki [6:26]
Reliving the latin tinged “melting pot” atmosphere of pre-disco New York, “Kon-Tiki” arrises with funk ladden horns, latin flavoured choruses and space infused keyboards. Solid Burner!
03 The Menheads — Night Tripping [8:03]
With razor sharp electronic bass straight out of a french 80’s gangster flic, “Nighttripping” disinguishes itself as a fast and furious, trip-funk flavoured floor delight. Crispy percussion, minimalistic wah wah riffs and deep-afro centered flute parts blend into an hypnotical and “hard to resist” floor rocker.
04 The Menheads — All Night Long (Club Version) [5:53]
“All night long” tells the story of a frantic night out – situated against a sparse, funky backdrop singer and actress Kudra Owens takes us on a “phonky” ride through tempting “night long” affairs.
05 The Menheads — 2000 Black [7:10]
Deeply funky - but yet again with a hard and slightly abstract - electronic edge, “2000 Black” arises. More hypnotical than its predecessor this “electronic break-funk dittie” matches the floor as well as the living room…
06 The Menheads — 1964 ft. Andy Fairley [5:34]
On “1964” The Menheads pay tribute to Reggae and On-U Sound legend Andy Fairley. With the post humous vocal support of the 1999 deceased singer, Marcello Armetta & Michael Hirschler settle into a funky Dub mood. Dark seductive!
07 The Menheads — All Night Long (Instrumental) [5:50]
